Introducing your board

Board PresidentThrough my parent’s example, I was taught to give back to my community and help others. My father was a Richland Police Reserve for over 30 years and continued to donate his time to the Richland Police Department and local law enforcement once he retired. Since my father’s passing, the Richland Police Department Foundation was a good fit and natural interest for me. It allows me to continue the donation of time to our outstanding local law enforcement and community that my family contributed to for many years.

SecretaryMy family has a long history in law enforcement beginning in 1957 and continuing to this day. I know the challenges police officers face every day, the many sacrifices they make, and I admire their dedication and sense of duty. This “family connection” to law enforcement led me to join the Richland Police Department Foundation in their efforts to help our police officers better serve the community. There is so much negative publicity surrounding our nation’s police agencies, but we rarely see the positive things they do for their communities. Our police officers are no different. They perform their law enforcement duties, but they also serve the community through amazing programs reaching out to those less fortunate who struggle day to day. I believe we all have a duty as citizens to support our police officers in making Richland a safer and better city – serving our community, our friends and our neighborhoods.

The RPDF holds a special place in my heart because I’ve been a proud resident of Richland for the past 35 years. This community has been a wonderful place for my family and me, and I feel deeply committed to giving back to the place that has given us so much. My husband, Rajiv Malhan, and I have raised our three children here and established our businesses here. Over the years, we’ve seen firsthand how community support and collaboration help Richland continue to grow and thrive, and I’m honored to contribute to that ongoing progress.

It is a privilege to serve as a member of the Richland Police Department and an honor to be the Chief. My policing philosophy focuses on problem-solving in conjunction with our residents and business community. Each member of the Richland Police Department provides service through a commitment to our values of excellence, teamwork, and integrity, and is dedicated to serving those who need our assistance and being tough on those who commit crimes within Richland.
Our department is made up of caring and courageous professionals who are committed to treating all with dignity and respect. Our staff recognize the importance of and appreciate the strong support from our community. The Richland Police Department Foundation helps our officers connect with our community in many ways, from providing emergency supplies to having fun in the parks. The RPD Foundation also helps to ensure our officers maintain their wellness and resilience so they can perform their best.
I am proud of the men and women of the Richland Police Department and feel fortunate to serve the public alongside them as we work in partnership with our community members to keep the City of Richland safe. With the partnership of the Richland Police Foundation, we are able to better meet the needs of our community.

Vice PresidentI have now lived in this community for over ten years and feel compelled to give back with using my time to support the Richland Police department. We are a family of first responders; four generations of nurses including my son and daughter-in-law, three sheriff’s and three military branches. We know the trials of first responders and the commitment they give. I am an organizer by nature and thus feel using my talents to support the department in giving back to my community would be beneficial. I thank our entire police force and support staff in making my community a better place!

TreasureI have always had an interest in law enforcement and originally started my education with this as my goal. After starting a family, my career path took a bit of a detour and I have enjoyed many years in the banking industry. Throughout these years, my passion for law enforcement has remained and having the opportunity to serve on the board for the Richland Police Department Foundation gives me the opportunity to support our brave men and women as they serve and protect our community. Our officers need to be recognized for the great things they do now more than ever and I am proud to support them.

Board MemberI am proud to have joined the Richland Police Department Foundation! After serving in the Richland Police Department for over 20 years as a police officer, detective and sergeant, I still have a heart of service just like the men and women who serve at RPD today.
Although I retired from law enforcement, I am excited to give back to the Richland Police Department and the community. I look forward to focusing on
the needs of our officers and the needs of our community! On a personal note, I’m married, I have two kids and I currently work at a local investment firm in Richland.
